The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer
8pm, Channel 4
The famous white tent welcomes another quartet of celebrity bakers hoping to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood — and raise vital funds for Stand Up To Cancer.
Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding oversee proceedings as singer James Blunt, presenters Alison Hammond and Alex Jones, and YouTuber Joe Sugg tackle three tricky challenges. There are decorative traybakes for the Signature, a classic British favourite in the Technical, and an ambitious biscuit showstopper inspired by their childhood dreams. Expect floury mishaps, melted ambitions and — for one lucky star — the coveted Star Baker apron.
Would I Lie To You?
8.30pm, BBC One and iPlayer
Friday night wouldn’t be complete without a few outrageous fibs. Rob Brydon presides over the quick-witted chaos as team captains Lee Mack and David Mitchell go head-to-head, interrogating a fresh batch of celebrity guests and their eyebrow-raising “facts”.
Joining the fun this week are David Morrissey, Holly Willoughby, John Kearns and Montell Douglas, each armed with stories that sound far too bizarre to be true. But in this game, the strangest tales are often real. Expect razor-sharp banter, inspired bluffing and at least one claim that leaves everyone utterly baffled.
Death in Paradise
9pm, BBC One and iPlayer
Shakespeare meets scandal on Saint Marie as a touring theatre company stages The Tempest on a sun-drenched beach. But drama turns deadly when one of the actors collapses mid-revelry after drinking poisoned wine. Tests confirm cyanide — yet bafflingly, two other cast members drank from the same bottle and survive unharmed.
As the team untangle the impossible poisoning, personal tensions bubble for Mervin, who learns his half-brother Solomon plans to sell their late mother’s belongings. Desperate to keep a piece of her memory, Mervin faces a race against time — and a brother who won’t answer his calls.
Scream (2022)
12.10am, Channel 4
Ghostface is back — and this time the horror franchise leans fully into its own legacy. The fifth instalment (or “re-quel,” as the film slyly dubs it) blends fresh faces with familiar favourites, including Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette.
When teenager Tara Carpenter survives a brutal opening attack, her estranged sister Sam returns to Woodsboro with her boyfriend Richie. But history has a nasty habit of repeating itself, and before long Ghostface is carving a path through a new generation — with help from some old hands. Smart, self-aware and satisfyingly savage, this late-night thriller is perfect for horror fans who like their scares served with a wink.
